How to livestream with a DSLR camera – Video Transcript

I'one thousand going to show you how to livestream using a DSLR camera. And this really will be a simplified tutorial and walk through of what I personally employ. Before you get, do I have to do it this way? No, but this is how I practise it.

And I recall this is kind of a nice and simplified way of doing it. And I'm going to walk you through not only the equipment, but I'thou also going to evidence you how to go end to end.

Once y'all've got all your equipment, how practise you lot actually apply your DSLR camera to live stream with information technology? I'm going to walk you lot through the software using StreamYard.

The Canon 80d works really nicely besides. I don't know what lens this is. This was a lens that my husband had, but the one that yous're watching me through right now is the 18 to 55-millimetre lens.

The one that came with the camera, I believe. It'due south merely the standard lens. But plainly, with the DSLR, you lot can bandy out the lens so that you can create dissimilar looks and things similar that.

First of all, you need a DSLR camera. It doesn't have to be a Catechism. I personally use a Canon. I don't know why. I think it was simply the brand that I liked at the time.

I oasis't tested it out. I tin't comment about it. I've heard it's a piffling fleck buggy, hence why I didn't blitz out to go and get it, simply I recommend getting a video capture carte.

There are lots on the market. You need a video capture card in order to connect your camera to your calculator. The ane that you're watching me through right now, I got it yesterday. Excited. I'm going to prove you my screen.

The one that y'all're watching me through right now is the AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra. Actually cool, really cool, beautiful, reliable 4k on the higher stop, but stunning, reliable capture carte.

That's on the college end of the ones that I would recommend. The other ones that I've used, I've used the Cam Link past Elgato, the Cam Link 4k. I'm having human relationship issues with this one.

We were actually good, but now we're having problems. I've just had bug with reliability, with the Cam Link 4k. Hence, why I moved over to AVerMedia. For the most part, information technology's been actually good, simply I had, I've had issues with the Cam Link considering it's but being inconsistent. I've plugged information technology in and it's not worked.

It just decides to work whenever it wants to. We're in a, nosotros're in a bad human relationship at the moment. I'm trying to resolve it with Elgato and it'due south this taking a picayune bit of time.

That'due south another one that I've used, just having a couple of problems, you may not, but this is my experience. You don't accept to splurge on a capture menu. This is a no-brand one.

It's a, I don't even know, literally a no-brand one that I got for well-nigh $20 off Amazon and it does the job as well. I've got the links in the description to similar a loftier end, the Elgato, and then similar a no-brand 1, which actually simply does the job.

You really just need something to bring together the dots. And then you need a cable to bring it all together and don't worry. I'm going to show you how it all comes together. It depends on your camera.

In terms of what HDMI cablevision you demand. For the Canon, I have an HDMI to an HDMI mini. The mini goes into the Catechism, similar this. The mini HDMI side goes into the Catechism like this.

So the other side of the HDMI goes into your capture bill of fare, right? And so the capture card, move this around, goes into your computer. In the USB port of your reckoner, and that's how you kind of hook it up birthday.

One time once more, we've got the DSLR camera, the HDMI mini into the Canon 90d, then the other side of the HDMI cablevision into the capture card. And that'south a flake blurry, just y'all get the point.

And and then the capture menu into your computer. That'south the bones setup. The other thing that I would recommend that you get is a microphone because you want to become decent quality audio.

At that place are lots of microphones. You're listening to me now on the Deity D3 Pro, which is a shotgun microphone. That's going straight into my computer. It's a little bit on the college end, merely I like how I sound with the microphone.

An alternative is a USB microphone. This is the RODE NT USB mini. RODE sent me this one. Information technology's a good microphone, good quality sound. And it plugs into your computer via USB, right?

Y'all literally just plug it into the USB, plug it into the USB port, and then you've got everything going. You've got the capture carte du jour on one side, you've got the USB in the other port and you're all good to get.

I similar the RODE NT USB mini, 1 because information technology's a USB microphone, significant you don't need anything fancy to go it working. You can plug information technology straight into your estimator and it'due south good. It's a decent quality sound and information technology's easy to use, correct?

And it's not that expensive. That'south why I really like the RODE NT USB. Merely that basically is the setup that I have. I have my camera, a capture card, and a microphone. That's pretty much it.

This is one of my favourite alive streaming software options. I practice recommend that if yous are going to live stream that you avoid at all costs using the native Facebook producer.

The native Facebook software, it's only horrible to use. It doesn't a lot of functionality and information technology'south incredibly buggy. I use StreamYard and I utilize Ecamm Alive. You're looking at StreamYard right now.

And I'yard going to testify you once everything is plugged in how easy it is to make, to get it all to happen. StreamYard I like considering they've got a lot of functionality. They're web-based.

You don't have to rely on having a souped-up computer. It'south not, yous know, hugging all the all of your computers processes and you can get it to work. Now once you go into StreamYard, you lot select create broadcast.

You connect all of the social media accounts that yous want to go alive to. Whether that's Facebook, YouTube, Periscope, you proper name it, y'all connect the i that you want to get live to and so yous select it.
